MVP goes to Lou Boudreau who batted .667 (10 of 15) with 2 HRs and 9 runs scored for the series, edging out Dale Mitchell's, .526 on 10 of 19.

SUMMARY: CLE jumped out to a 3 run lead in the first inning of Game 1 and finished with a 5-3 win behind a complete game fron Bob Feller. In Game 2, KC evened the series with a 5-1 win due to the oustanding pitching of Bret Saberhagen who went the distance allowing only 1 run with 8 k's. In Game 3, the CLE bats went cray scoring 10 runs enroute to the 10-0 shutout. Gene Bearden pitched 9 scoreless innings for the win. In Game 4, KC lost all focus and allowed 21 runs on 20 hits to the hot CLE hitters. KC committed 4 errors in the first few innings and couldn't stop the potent CLE bats. Ken Keltner hit for the cycle in this game, batted .316 for the series, and was still outperformed by two of his teammates. One key to CLE's success was keeping KC's George Brett in check with a .188 average on 3 of 16 batting. Lonnie Smith was a bright note for KC in the series loss with a .533 average on 8 of 15 hitting.

Turning Point: With the series tied one game a piece, CLE scored 10 and shutdown KC in game 3 and expanded on that momentum through game 4. During Game 4 with KC looking to even the series, poor pitching and fielding errors closed the door on any chance they had to split the series.
